We were pleased to see Dr. Stasio and colleagues address the important issue of parents' perspectives on surgical options with respect to tonsil removal in their article "Tonsillectomy versus Tonsillotomy: A Study of Parental Preference" [1]. Parents were presented brief descriptions of both procedures in an office waiting room setting, and asked to select which procedure they would prefer if their child hypothetically needed their tonsils removed. The authors report 85.9% of parents selected tonsillectomy, concluding "parents overwhelmingly prefer definitive treatment in the form of total tonsillectomy versus partial tonsillectomy when presented with an objective list of comparative risks and benefits."
