| Evaluation of 5-Year-Old Children With Complete Cleft Lip and Palate: Multicenter Study. Part 1: Lip and Nose Aesthetic Results Sep 4th 2015, 01:37, by Caroline Dissaux, Frédéric Bodin, Bruno Grollemund, Arnaud Picard, Marie-Paule Vazquez, Béatrice Morand, Isabelle James, Isabelle Kauffmann, Catherine Bruant-Rodier Cleft lip and palate, which represents the most common form of craniofacial malformations and affects 1 in 700 newborns, is marked by controversies and multiple protocols concerning treatment. Cleft surgery is often determined by traditional approaches in a given treatment center rather than being based on reliable criteria. The Eurocleft study (Shaw et al., 2001) identified 194 different surgical protocols for the primary surgery and over 201 competence centers, but did not show that one protocol was superior to the others. |
