Palsy of the facial nerve alters the movement and muscular tone of the orbicularis oculi muscle, which causes lagophthalmos and can lead to corneal ulceration and irreversible problems with the eye. To prevent these adverse effects, we have to operate to improve the function of the eyelid.1
