Birth by caesarean delivery interrupts transmission of maternal microbiome and compromises intestinal microbiome programming in an infant. This disruption influences immunologic development and increases the risk of development of allergic diseases.1 However, because most studies are conducted in European populations with limited studies in Asia, we evaluated associations between caesarean delivery and allergic outcomes in infants using data from the Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) study (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01174875).
