Minimally-invasive operations on the temporomandibular joint with a new retractor: technical note

Our aim was to introduce a new approach to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) that would provide a short access route (Fig. 1); expose the intra-articular anatomy; minimise morbidity of the treatment of intracapsular condylar fractures and open arthroplasty (Fig. 2); and allow percutaneous endoscopically-assisted arthroplasty (Fig. 3).
