Submucous cleft complicating facial fracture management

Introduction: Submucous clefts of the soft and hard palate may go undetected in early life, until related problems such as speech and hearing difficulties highlight their presence. The absence of midline bone and abnormal muscle anatomy can complicate the management of mid facial trauma, and result in unusual patterns of injury.
