Negative pressure wound therapy for the management of flaps with venous congestion: Purpose The aim of this report is to evaluate the utility of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) for rescuing flaps with venous congestion not attributable to a mechanical etiology and that cannot be surgically salvaged. Abstract We used acellular dermal matrix (ADM) to reconstruct the dura in a patient with recurrent malignant schwannoma of the scalp. The patient had previously undergone ablative surgery with reconstruction and radiation therapy. The present recurrence involved the dura. Full-thickness resection was performed. Reconstruction was carried out using ADM, a free muscle-flap covered with at split skin graft, and healed primarily. The patient recovered completely. Olfactory dysfunction is a common complaint among physician visits. Olfactory loss affects quality of life and impairs function and activities of daily living. The purpose of our study was to assess the degree of odor identification associated with mental health. Olfactory function was measured using the brief smell identification test.
