First bite syndrome after bimaxillary osteotomy: case report
We read the recently published paper by Scholey and Suida,1 in which they described a case of first bite syndrome that developed after a bimaxillary osteotomy. They described symptoms consistent with first bite syndrome and diagnosed the condition with no evidence of intraoral or extraoral disease. The syndrome has a specific symptom of facial pain that occurs only with the first bite of a meal. Coronary artery bypass grafting in Takayasu’s disease – importance of the proximal anastomosis: a case report
IntroductionTreatment of coronary artery involvement in Takayasu's arteritis is challenging. Coronary artery bypass grafting may be required. The use of saphenous vein grafts is recommended because of possible inflammatory involvement of the internal thoracic arteries. We read the recently published paper by Scholey and Suida,1 in which they described a case of first bite syndrome that developed after a bimaxillary osteotomy. They described symptoms consistent with first bite syndrome and diagnosed the condition with no evidence of intraoral or extraoral disease. The syndrome has a specific symptom of facial pain that occurs only with the first bite of a meal. The aims of this study were to evaluate the cross-cultural adaptation of the Speech Handicap Index (SHI) for Korean subjects and to determine its reliability and utility in patients with oral cavity cancer.
