Alterations to chromatin in intestinal macrophages link IL-10 deficiency to inappropriate inflammatory responses

At the same time, the country has also increased the input of technology and R&D to prompt technological reformation and imported technology absorption. However, there is limited research on the relationship between technology development and energy efficiency. Using the g...περισσότερα »

Nutrients, Vol. 8, Pages 276: Sesamin Ameliorates High-Fat Diet–Induced Dyslipidemia and Kidney Injury by Reducing Oxidative Stress
The study explored the protective effect of sesamin against lipid-induced renal injury and hyperlipidemia in a rat model. An animal model of hyperlipidemia was established in Sprague-Dawley rats. Fifty-five adult Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups. The control group was fed a standard diet, while the other four groups were fed a high-fat diet for 5 weeks to induce hyperlipidemia. Three groups received oral sesamin in doses of 40, 80, or 160 mg/(kg·day). Comparison of centring ability and transportation between four nickel titanium instrumentation techniques by micro-computed tomography (μCT)
Abstract Aim To compare the centring ability and transportation of ProTaper Next (PTN), ProTaper Universal (PTU), Race 123 and Revo S using micro computed tomography (μCT). Methodology Sixty mesial root canals of thirty mandibular molars were divided virtually into coronal, middle and apical thirds and two reproducible reference points were marked on the external surface of the roots creating 360 measurement points. Samples were randomly allocated to four NiTi instrumentation techniques. Group 1: PTU up to F2 (n=16), group 2: PTN up to X2 (n=18), group 3: Race 123 up to T2 (n=12... περισσότερα »

Abstract Aim Root canal treatment of teeth with necrotic pulps and apical periodontitis may be complicated by limited access to the root canals due to restorations and dystrophic calcifications. The objective of this study was to evaluate retrograde root canal as a primary treatment using a surgical approach as an alternative to conventional orthograde treatment. Methodology Patients with apical periodontitis in the anterior region of the maxilla were consecutively recruited to the study over a period of 4 years. Fifty-Seven patients met the inclusion criteria and received retrog... περισσότερα »

Symmetry, Vol. 8, Pages 33: Multivariate Krawtchouk Polynomials and Composition Birth and Death Processes
This paper defines the multivariate Krawtchouk polynomials, orthogonal on the multinomial distribution, and summarizes their properties as a review. The multivariate Krawtchouk polynomials are symmetric functions of orthogonal sets of functions defined on each of N multinomial trials. The dual multivariate Krawtchouk polynomials, which also have a polynomial structure, are seen to occur naturally as spectral orthogonal polynomials in a Karlin and McGregor spectral representation of transition functions in a composition birth and death process. In this Markov composition process in...περισσότερα »

Malignant Mesothelioma (MM) is a tumor of the serous membranes linked to exposure to asbestos. A chronic inflammatory response orchestrated by mesothelial cells contributes to the development and progression of MM. The evidence that: (a) multiple signaling pathways are aberrantly activated in MM cells; (b) asbestos mediated-chronic inflammation has a key role in MM carcinogenesis; (c) the deregulation of the immune system might favor the development of MM; and (d) a drug might have a better efficacy when injected into a serous cavity thus bypassing biotransformation and reaching a... περισσότερα »
Immobilization of Genetically-Modified d-Amino Acid Oxidase and Catalase on Carbon Nanotubes to Improve the Catalytic Efficiency
[image: ag] d-amino acid oxidase (DAAO) and catalase (CAT) have been genetically modified by fusing them to an elastin-like polypeptide (ELP). ELP-DAAO and ELP-CAT have been separately immobilized on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). It has been found that the secondary structures of the enzymes have been preserved. ELP-DAAO catalyzed the oxidative deamination of d-alanine, and H2O2 was evolved continuously. When the MWNT-supported enzymes were used together, the generated hydrogen peroxide of ELP-DAAO could be decomposed in situ. The catalytic efficiency of the two immobiliz... περισσότερα »

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 were enacted to reduce the U.S. dependency on foreign oil by increasing the use of biofuels. The increased demand for biofuels from corn and soybeans could result in an increase of nitrogen flux if not managed properly. Background. Tuberculosis remains a major global health problem. It causes ill-health among millions of people each year and ranks alongside the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) as a leading cause of death worldwide. Purpose. To assess the outcome of tuberculosis treatment and to identify factors associated with tuberculosis treatment outcome. Methods. A five-year retrospective cross-sectional study […]
Nutrients, Vol. 8, Pages 275: The Potential Protective Effects of Polyphenols in Asbestos-Mediated Inflammation and Carcinogenesis of Mesothelium
Sustainability, Vol. 8, Pages 456: Transformational and Transactional Factors for the Successful Implementation of Enterprise Architecture in Public Sector
Enterprise architecture (EA) is one of the most important and effective tools for delivering high-quality e-government services to citizens. In this study, we used organizational performance and change theory to determine factors that contribute to the successful implementation of EA. We classified these factors as one of two types: transformation change (TFC) and transactional change (TSC). To identify these factors, we collected survey data from Korean public sectors that have implemented EA for years. Results show that while EA management systems (EAMS) and EA guidelines direct...περισσότερα »
Catalysts, Vol. 6, Pages 66: Immobilization of Genetically-Modified d-Amino Acid Oxidase and Catalase on Carbon Nanotubes to Improve the Catalytic Efficiency
d-amino acid oxidase (DAAO) and catalase (CAT) have been genetically modified by fusing them to an elastin-like polypeptide (ELP). The catalytic efficiency of the two immobilized enzymes w... περισσότερα »
Molecules, Vol. 21, Pages 581: Supported Pd-Au Membrane Reactor for Hydrogen Production: Membrane Preparation, Characterization and Testing
A supported Pd-Au (Au 7wt%) membrane was produced by electroless plating deposition. Permeation tests were performed with pure gas (H2, H2, N2, CO2, CH4) for long time operation. After around 400 h under testing, the composite Pd-Au membrane achieved steady state condition, with an H2/N2 ideal selectivity of around 500 at 420 °C and 50 kPa as transmembrane pressure, remaining stable up to 1100 h under operation. Afterwards, the membrane was allocated in a membrane reactor module for methane steam reforming reaction tests. As a preliminary application, at 420 °C, 300 kPa of reactio... περισσότερα »
