Isotretinoin and Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Abstract

We read with great interest the article by Gallagher et al.¹, in which eight patients with severe acne vulgaris, who were treated with Isotretinoin, developed painful nodules in their axillae and groins consistent with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS). These observations prompted that systemic Isotretinoin may cause flares of HS, particularly in young, thin males.
