Long term follow-up of patients with PEEK Onlay implants in the Maxillofacial region- The East Grinstead experience and a review of literature

Introduction: Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a semi-crystalline polyaromatic linear polymer that can be milled to any desired shape in 3D and has been used as a patient specific implant (PSI) in Maxillofacial reconstruction. It has been used in our hospital for post-traumatic deformities, facial asymmetries, syndromic cases and post-oncology defects. There is a paucity of literature on long term follow-up of patients with PEEK Onlay implants. We present our experience of over 10 years of using PEEK Onlay implants in Maxillofacial reconstruction.
