African-type Kaposi's sarcoma

Abstract: A case of Africa-type Kaposi's sarcoma is reported. A 69-year-old Sierra Leonian man presented with multiple nodules and plaques on the both feet, and ulcers on the left foot with pain and itching for 2 years. Physical examination revealed multiple uneven, hard, gray-brown nodules without tenderness on the both feet, and the borders of the nodules were not clear.Histopathological examination showed the nodules consisted of proliferated spindle cells, borders of the nodules were clear, proliferation of slit-like blood vessels, extravasation of erythrocytes, and infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells were seen. HIV antibody(-). Immunohistochemistry showed the tumor cells were stained positive for CD34, CD117, KP-1,Bcl-2, Ki-67(>10%), vimentin and CD31(+). The diagnosis of African-type Kaposi's sarcoma was made.
