Abstract: AIM: To investigate the effects of tumor necrosis factor- α( TNF-α) on the apoptosis of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells( BMSCs). METHODS: Mouse BMSCs were cultured and stimulated with TNF-α( μg / L) at 0,20 and 40 respectively for 24 h. Cell activity staining and Tunel staining were used to determine the apoptosis of BMSCs. The expression of bax and Bcl-2 protein was examined by Western blot. RESULUTS: TNF- αdose dependently decreased the survival and increased the apoptosis of BMSCs. TNF- α up- regulated Bax expression and down- regulated bcl-2 expression( P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: TNF-α can induce the apoptosis of BMSCs.
